Fay Fay Go Away

It seems like Fay is the storm that keeps on giving and giving and giving. Saturday wasn't too bad. Sustained winds of about 30 mph with gusts up to 55. We've been through worse. But Fay just won't leave already!

We had tornado watches yesterday afternoon but it was relatively quiet.

This morning, however, I was nice and snug in bed after hitting the snooze when the tornado sirens started going off. Tornadoes don't usually come on our part of the city, but Ben is freaked out by them ever since we had a bad one come through town in 2006. So I knew I needed to get moving to keep him calm.

Got everyone out of bed and tried to get ready for school. I had this idea that the storms would blow over quickly and I'd be able to drop the kids off and get to work. Boy was I wrong!

The sirens didn't stop for nearly two hours!

At one point the National Weather Service said the radar indicated a tornado that was over our part of town! That is soooo not cool. I herded the kids in to the bathroom and I finally joined them when I saw the rain on the ground blowing *towards* our house. We live on top of a hill. So when the rain is blowing up, it's never a good thing.

Thankfully, the radar indicated tornado never actually touched down. No damage to report so far at home. Just very very wet.

Weather forecasters are predicting Fay will be with us for a few more days as she has stalled over Mississippi. Joy of joys. I guess this means we're not in a drought any more!

  1. Wow, crazy! I can't believe Fay won't go away. I'm glad you all are doing okay, stay safe and try to stay dry.

  2. that's the plan until next week when we get hit by Gustav LOL

Thanks and have a great day!
