Sometimes life gives you...

a big flaming pile of something on your doorstep. That was today.

In the last few weeks we've have to already put in $1000 in repairs on our van. Now the transmission is slipping. The problem is our driveway. It's on a very steep grade. If we park in the driveway and back out, the transmission has trouble getting in to second. If I park on the lawn (illegal, btw) and drive forward down the neighbor's non inclined driveway, the van drives fine.

To make matters worse, someone stole our lawnmower, our TV shorted out and the washing machine broke. D managed to rig up the washing machine and someone said they may have a new TV for us...wall mounted even, but it doesn't have sound. We have a sound system and D thinks he might be able to rig something up.

The boy is now saying homeschooling is boring. He is moving through the materials much more quickly than I anticipated. I am having a harder time finding ways to challenge him. He is bored with the assignments. He is tired of being home by himself all day with no one to play with. This is going to be a bit more of a challenge for me as I try to find more ways to engage him. I really need to pay my library fines so I can get him more books LOL

  1. I can totally relate to what you are going through here! ( And I thought I was the only one who racked up huge library fees!) Everything always "goes" at once at our house too. Today, the fridge just decided to stop being cold and the shower leaked - badly - into our downstairs. Hang in there! :)

  2. omgosh, that sounds like Murphy has been visiting you! I know how it feels........hopefully everything will work out fine.

  3. I feel your pain! When it rains it pours!

Have you thought about enrolling your son in a virtual academy? The nice thing is that they can go quickly through their curriculum, and you get new curriculum for free! Plus you can get support from a teacher and fieldtrips with other virtual schoolers. We like Washington Virtual Academy a lot! I know Idaho has the same program with K12, and there is another one that my friend used to use- Connections- and they gave them a loaner computer for the student.

Thanks and have a great day!
