I've been reflecting quite a bit recently about what I want to do for myself and my family in 2011. My goals in 2010 were fairly simple. I wanted to become more organized in my home. I feel I have made great strides in this area! D gave me a huge push forward by giving me a much wanted label maker for Christmas. He didn't really see the point, but now my drawers and bins are labeled. Maybe the children will actually be able to put things away correctly!
But for 2011, I've been thinking on who I want to BE. I am a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter...but I'm so much more than those family labels. And, in order to be better at those roles, I need to focus on self-improvement.
So, who do I want to BE?
I've spent time pondering this. My mind was drawn several time to Gordon B. Hinkley's 9 Ways to Be. Gordon B. Hinkley was president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 until he passed away in 2008. Even if you aren't LDS, the teachings of President Hinkley and his Ways to Be, are things we can all benefit from.
In 2011, I will be focusing on one of the Bes each month and trying to incorporate them more in to my life.
January: grateful
February: smart
March: involved
April: clean
May: true
June: positive
July: humble
August: still
September: prayerful

You'll notice there are no Bes for October, November, and December...That's because those are my months to Be REALISTIC. LOL October starts our busy time of year. We go pretty much non stop those months and if you've read this blog for any length of time, you know that my blogging becomes very sporadic. I'm not going to promise anything of interest in those months except for updates on the fair, birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I would invite my readers to participate in the Be Her project for 2011. Drop me a comment and I will add you to the Be Her Blog Roll in the side bar. The requirements are pretty basic: Two posts a month on what you are doing to BE for that month's theme. A post at the beginning of the month to share the goal, and an accountability post at the end of the month.
Please grab a badge and add it to your blog! Then post along with me.
