it's not just mother's day

While the rest of the country pauses to remember mothers, our house doesn't stop for that today.

Not because we don't love our mothers. I adore my mom and my mom-in-law. Both wonderful women.

No, today we pause and remember that 18 years ago today, I married my eternal companion.

It was a Friday the 13th. My lucky day. I was 19. He was 23.

D jokes it set the tone for the whole marriage. One unlikely thing after another.

We met in Idaho. We were married in the Portland Oregon LDS Temple. We moved to Utah, where I finished university. Then, we moved back to Oregon and D started back to school. We added several children to the family. And, almost 8 years ago, we ventured east and settled in Alabama. Definitely not what we envisioned for our lives, but we make the best of things. Through thick and thin...waistlines ;)

As much as we'd love to be back in the Pacific Northwest, Alabama has grown on me. Sort of like Kudzu.

Our children are thriving. And D and I have been together for nearly half my life. That's pretty amazing, He's pretty amazing.
