Valentine's Mailbox

It's Friday and that means it's craft day for Little Miss and I. Next week she has a Valentine's Party with her little friends. I'm not crafty enough to put together cute little Valentines, but I figured we could at least pull off a cute way to collect the Valentines!

We started with two small cereal boxes and cut them in to pieces. Naturally, a two larger cereal boxes will make a much bigger mailbox.

I scored the edges to make it easier to fold.

The largest piece went into a U shape and I hot glued the scored edges to the smaller rectangle. Little Miss thought it looked like a tunnel. One arched piece fit in to the back of the tunnel and was hot glued completely in. The second arched piece went in the front with only the straight edge hot glued inside the tunnel.

And you end up with a cereal box mailbox

Not very cute, right?

That's when I broke in to the scrapbooking paper I have in my craft hoard room.

I covered it completely and added a little flag...heck, I even got in to the way back machine and used the deco scissors! I swear those things haven't seen the light of day since the late 90s.

It always amazes me that my scrapbooking supplies are getting much more use in school projects and craft day projects with Little Miss. I haven't scrapbooked in an embarrassing amount of time. I know I have some of Punky Brewster's baby book done and I'm positive I haven't done a thing for Little Miss. I figured now is the time to make the memories together and we'll preserve them in an artsy fartsy way later.  Or maybe I'll do like my mom did and just hand my kids a stack of pictures and say "Do something with this, will ya?"
